Dan began his career in construction over two decades ago in Ireland. He graduated with a degree in finished carpentry while apprenticing throughout his education. He knew his potential exceeded his opportunity in Ireland, and made a move to New York to fulfill his own “American Dream” as a business owner. Dan felt in order to achieve his long term goal, he needed to understand all aspects of the business. He apprenticed in concrete form work, house framing, shadowed plumbers and electricians and continued his trade as a finished carpenter so as start his own company as a well-rounded leader. He founded his first company in 2008 with a partner and had great success for the next ten years. Dan knew he wanted to continue his success as a sole principal, and founded Acara Construction in 2017. He hit the ground running with a substantial base of clients, architects and top notch relationships in the New York City construction industry. Dan firmly believes in learning at every opportunity, which creates an open and collaborative environment on the job site and ensures top efficiency. He has been described by former clients as “a humble and refreshing change of pace in the construction field”, “salt of the earth”, “knowledgeable, reliable and accommodating”.
Linda brings a wealth of experience to the Acara team. Originally from County Down Ireland, upon moving to New York she was immediately intrigued by the booming construction industry. When Linda sparks an interest in something, she doesn’t rest until she is an expert, evidenced by completing the NYC marathon in 2018, and was “not a runner” in Jan of 2018.
Linda was instantly hired by an established construction group for her attention to detail and organizational skills. She quickly rose from administrative work to a top project manager on multi million dollar projects. Linda was the top choice to oversee NYC municipality projects due to her unparalleled record keeping, and a foolproof motto that “when you watch the cents, the dollars follow”.
Her law background helped to develop astute negotiating skills, that she puts to work on our clients behalf for discounts at every opportunity.
Linda made the move to Acara, with appreciation for our commitment to family flexibility. As the mother of two teen-aged boys she found a company that will honor her commitment to her family as well as her job.
Linda is a staple to our company. She is the brains behind our bids, on-site at our weekly meetings, and organizes our Christmas bar crawl, to name a few.
Annie brings a diverse background to her role with Acara. With over a decade served as a Program & Development Director in the non-profit industry, she understand the importance of a budget better than most! Annie fund-raised and project managed two large capital campaigns and renovations before making the shift into the construction industry full time.
Having sat on both sides of the table, she champions the clients voice throughout the process, and ensures communication is fluent between all parties involved.
